Heavy Metal History in Times Square

On September 12th, musicians from the biggest and most respected heavy metal bands came together and shared the stage at The Best Buy Theater for an epic thrash session as part of the 'Samson Metal Masters Clinic 2'.

The lineup included Kerry King of Slayer and Scott Ian of Anthrax on guitar, Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Anthrax’s Frank Bello on bass, Charlie Benante of Anthrax and Mike Portnoy, formerly of Dream Theater, on drums.

The highlight of the night came when Phil Anselmo (former lead singer of Pantera) surprised everyone and ripped though killer renditions of 'A New Level' and 'F*cking Hostile' and others. This marked the first time that Anselmo has performed any Pantera songs live since the band’s last show in 2001.

After the Metal Masters Clinic wrapped up, the night closed out with a full set by Anthrax celebrating their latest release, Worship Music.

Arcadia handled the video and audio production and our friends at livestream.com delivered the webcast to an audience of over 70,000 worldwide. Check out the archived performance & some photos from the night are below.
